Rosemary McKinley has been interested in history all of her life. She was a history and writing teacher and later was bitten by the writing bug. She retired to become a published author in 2003 and worked to make that happen. Her first book is 101 Glimpses of the North Fork and Islands and her second is The Wampum Exchange. Her third book, Captain Henry Green, A Whaler, is about an ordinary whaler who has led an extraordinary life. Henry lives in the whaling town of Sag Harbor where almost everyone is involved in some way in the industry. Henry, like so many, is intrigued by the lure of the hunt for whales and the draw of sailing to faraway places. He works his way up to captain and has a long career as a whaler and adventurer. Along the way he is involved in the slave ship the Amistad and the Gold Rush. An exciting life indeed.
