The Madonna Ghost-An Annie Tillery Mystery
The teen novel, The Madonna Ghost, is set in the beach town of Fire Island, known for its beautiful surf, sun and sailing. A compelling plot revolves around a teen couple who are stalking an eerie ghost with the help of a local historian. The main character, Annie Tillery, discovers that her aunt, Jill Tillery, an NYPD detective, has disappeared. Annie and her boyfriend, Ty Egan are threatened by the sinister neighbors next door and soon after, the story takes a very dangerous turn. Readers are captivated by non-stop action, a sweet little romance between Annie and Ty, and plot twists that lead to a surprise climax.
Besides the local appeal of the story, the main character is a less-than-perfect heroine. She faces serious parental issues, with authenticity that appeals to the modern teen reader. Her aunt, an NYPD detective, lends some genuine forensic episodes to the plot. The book provides intriguing historical background and local color into Fire Island’s mystique, which is best known as a beach community to many who frequent the area.
If you love the suspense, intrigue and pace of mystery books, then you’ll enjoy reading Linda’s new book, Girl with Pencil, Drawing, the second in the Annie Tillery series. It was inspired by a life-long love of Nancy Drew.
As the story unfolds, Annie Tillery is pulled into a sinister world of international commerce in stolen art and drugs after overhearing an ugly argument between her art teacher, Francesca Gabrielli, and Mr. DiCristiani, owner of the DiCristiani Gallery. The young teacher, who is trying to break into the world of legitimate art, enlists Annie’s help to elude her boss. When he is found murdered, Francesca becomes the prime suspect. Annie and her aunt, Detective Jill Tillery, attempt to clear Francesca and become more deeply involved in a dangerous criminal organization. The stakes are high in this world of art forgery. Hold on tight as Annie Tillery tries to find a murderer in the midst of their glamorous international world of illicit art, in Girl with Pencil Drawing, the second of a series.
